Mr. Montoye is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan. He earned his B.S. in History from Eastern Michigan University, where he was a three-year letter winner in Division I Football and was a member of the Honors Program. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from The Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, MI. In law school, he was a Senior Associate Editor of The Thomas M. Cooley Law Review, won a Certificate of Merit in Criminal Procedure, and received the Honors Scholarship, Dean's List Award, and Honor Roll in every term.During law school, Mr. Montoye clerked for Simon & Geherin PLLC, defended criminal clients as part of the Washtenaw County Public Defender Clinic, and represented elder law clients on a variety of matters through the Elder Law clinic in Lansing. After graduation, Mr. Montoye worked for a prominent Ann Arbor law firm, Fink and Valvo PLLC, and practiced in the areas of criminal defense, civil litigation and landlord-tenant litigation. He has successfully litigated hundreds of criminal and civil cases in courts throughout southeastern Michigan. Mr. Montoye is a member of the Washtenaw County Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan, and was an assistant varsity football coach for Chelsea High School.
In 2013, Mr. Montoye joined Simon & Geherin, PLLC, where he specializes in state criminal defense, traffic cases, juvenile delinquency matters, and driver's license restoration cases.
